Colin Farrell "In Bruges" hairstyle
« on: November 23, 2011, 07:54:55 AM »
Hi all,

I'm 22 and I'm pretty new at actually styling my hair. In the past, I've rarely done anything with it unless I was going to a formal event or something, but now I'm getting interested in doing it regularly.

I really like the way Colin Farrell's hair looks in the movie "In Bruges", especially in the pictures I'm linking below. I've searched on the internet for tips on how to achieve his hairstyle, but the only stuff I can dig up talks about relatively different styles than these. Based on what I can tell, I have a very similar hair type (dark brown, wavy, fairly thick), so I think I could maybe pull it off with some help.

I've got pomade (American Crew), wax (American Crew Fiber), and mousse (forgot the brand...haven't had much luck with it). I've had the best luck with the American Crew Fiber, and I can pull off a spikey look (like he's known for), but I'd like to accomplish something like in these photos. It seems that his hair in these has more of a natural look (where there's not a lot of separation and things are a little bit fluffy) but undeniably has a lot of hold to it. What's the trick to getting it like this? I'm pondering if maybe I need to blow dry while applying product, or maybe apply the product and use a brush to get the messy look instead of combing with my fingers. Does anyone have any tips?

Thanks!
